Early Cinco de Mayo celebration!
Colleen Kattau is a bilingual vocalist, guitarist and composer of songs. Her poetic originals and charismatic stage presence inspire hope and spark imagination and audience participation! After a show audience members frequently tell her “You touched my soul”. Colleen has shared the stage with legendary performers Pete Seeger (he actually called her once when she was working in her garden- he loved “Singin down” the SOA with her and Jolie Rickman), Holly Near, with whom she toured in 2012, and Tom Paxton. She’s been also a selected showcase artist at the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance and the Emerging Artist Showcase at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Under the name, Dos XX, she and her band won the 2013 Band Contest at Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance in Ithaca, NY.
Ayana Del Valle is a Binghamton-based recording artist and singer whose eclectic style, sparkling stage presence, and soulful sound have inspired audiences around the globe. She’s performed for television and radio and at Carnegie Hall, three times! While Del Valle’s roots stem from jazz and Puerto Rican folk music, she has also worked with producers and artists in genres such as R&B, pop, hip-hop, funk, rock, salsa, and reggaeton.
Binghamton Live presents Colleen Kattau & Dos XX in an early Cinco de Mayo celebration concert. They will play both English and Spanish language songs. Mexican and Venezuelan fare will be offered up by Happy Pappi beginning at 6:30, when doors open. The latin food can be chased down with choices from the full bar. Colleen will be joined by Mike Brandt on bass, Connie Walters on vocals, and Jane Zell on guitar as they play gringa music, grooves from the heart, as Dos XX. Binghamton singer, Ayana Del Valle, will open the show.
